Governors’ Camp Activities
Governors’ Camp, located in the center of the Masai Mara Game Reserve, offers a plethora of activities for visitors to partake in, not to mention its fantastic game drives. Known as a safari of the senses, a game drive at Governors’ Camp allows visitors to see the abundant resident wildlife of Masai Mara that is there all year round. There are three game drives available every day, so visitors can choose to leave camp at dawn, in the late morning, or in the middle of the afternoon to take in the sights and sounds of life in the vast African wilderness. Every game drive is accompanied by knowledgeable and experienced guides. Governors’ Camp guides, who have first-hand and unmatched knowledge of the reserve, will take visitors in an open-top, all-terrain off-road vehicle to the best spots in Masai Mara for Big 5 sightings. Every game drive provides unparalleled chances for photographing and observing wildlife in some of the most stunning wildlife locations on the planet.

Additionally, Governors’ Camp provides hot-air balloon excursions above the Mara River, woods, and wide plains for an extra fee. Just before dawn, visitors set off on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, taking off in a balloon from a nearby natural launch location. The best way to see some of the most amazing creatures and fauna in the Masai Mara is to go on a hot-air balloon safari, where you can also experience the exhilaration of being suspended in a basket high above the ground. After a champagne breakfast and more leisurely game viewing on the way back to camp, guests will toast to their return to the earth as the balloon descends.

Another fantastic method to take in the unadulterated splendor of the Masai Mara is through dawn walking safaris. Visitors will love the chance to get up close and personal with wildlife in their natural habitat, guided by knowledgeable guides. Guests will be rewarded with a bush breakfast and a wildlife drive back to camp, just in time for a delectable lunch, following an early and bright stroll around the reserve.

Everybody at Governors’ Camp is pleased to be of African descent, and visitors are welcome to join in on an excursion to nearby communities that is organized by the camp. As part of the Governors’ Camp excursions, participants visit nearby Maasai villages to interact with the locals and get insight into their culture, way of life, and community.
