Day 1: Ngorongoro Crater in Arusha
After being collected from your Arusha hotel, you will drive to the Ngorongoro Crater for a tour, stopping along the way to take a 2000-foot walk down the crater. You will bring a picnic lunch with you. The biggest attraction in the area is the Ngorongoro Crater, also known as “Africa’s Eden” and the eighth natural wonder. As you explore, you can see a variety of wildlife species, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, wildebeests, and other birds.
The Ngorongoro Crater, located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA), was created approximately 2.5 million years ago when a volcanic mountain sank as a result of inactivity. At first, it was believed to be higher than Tanzania’s well-known Kilimanjaro. With a rim wall that rises to a height of 600 meters, the 22.5-kilometer-wide crater has developed into a distinctive and essential component of Tanzania’s ecosystem. Over 30,000 different species of animals and birds call the crater home.
You will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay in the evening.
Lunch and dinner are served.
Accommodation: Serena Lodge at Ngorongoro
Day 2: Transfer from Ngorongoro to serengeti national park
Following breakfast, you will be picked up from your lodge and driven to Serengeti North with a packed lunch. Once you reach the Serengeti plains, you will have the opportunity to see the big migration en route.
An enormous gathering of native species, including the “big five” (lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinos), is well-known to occur in the Serengeti National Park. Due to the variety of prey species, the Serengeti National Park is home to the highest population of lions in Africa, with around 3,000 lions living there.
You will travel to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay after your game drive.

Accommodations: Acacia Camps in the Serengeti
Day 3–4: North Mara, Serengeti National Park
Following breakfast, you will head out on a full game drive across the North Mara area of the Serengeti National Park, following the migratory herds, carrying your packed lunch.
You will visit the Mara River, where you can witness the herds crossing the crocodile-infested river, and explore the plains of the North Mara over these two days. From August to October, the plains of the North Mara spring to life and become a wildlife paradise. The herds frequently cross the Mara River north one day and then return south a few days later.
As the huge herd begins to settle in, river crossings at Kogatende become daily events in August. From August to October, game viewing is at its peak, with daily river crossings almost inevitable. The herds don’t really move; instead, they usually cross the river back and forth when it rains and then reappear on fresh grass. It’s also not unusual to witness various herds crossing on the same day in different directions.
Note: Sometimes luck plays a role in seeing the Mara River crossing.
